Gatsby development
Keep the Gatsby site running, then decide what is next.
Gatsby is in maintenance mode, with little new development. Your site still works — until a Node.js update, a plugin or a host change breaks the build.
The problem
Many Gatsby sites depend on plugins that are no longer updated. As hosting platforms drop older Node.js versions, builds start failing and there is no simple fix in the release notes.
We get the build working again, update what can be updated and give you an honest view on whether to keep the site on Gatsby for now or plan a move to Astro or Next.js.
Sound familiar?
- The build fails after your host updated Node.js.
- A source or image plugin is deprecated and causing errors.
- Builds have become slow or run out of memory.
- You need a small change and nobody on the team knows Gatsby any more.
- You want to know what moving off Gatsby would involve and cost.
What you get
- A working build on a supported Node.js version where possible
- Plugin updates or replacements for the ones causing problems
- A short written assessment: stay, patch or migrate
- A migration plan and quote for Astro or Next.js, if that is the better path
What this isn’t
- Promising Gatsby will stay supported long term
- Large site migrations in one job (we break them into stages or refer)
- New feature development on heavily customised Gatsby internals
Timeframe
Build fixes usually 2–5 business days. Migration plans in about a week.
Technologies
How the job runs
- 01
Describe what is stuck
Answer a few questions in the scoping agent. It takes about three minutes and turns your answers into a plain-English brief.
- 02
Get a straight answer
Within one business day, a developer replies with a fixed price, a paid diagnostic, one question, or an honest “not us” and a referral.
- 03
We fix it
Work starts when you approve. You get the fix, a short note on what changed and the access handed back.
Scoping agent
Tell us what’s stuck.
Two minutes of guided questions. You get a plain-English brief, and a developer replies within one business day.
- Guided questions, not an AI chatbot
- A person reviews every brief
- Never asks for passwords or keys
No account. No sales script. Never asks for passwords or keys.
Questions
Is Gatsby dead?
It still works, but it is in maintenance mode and the plugin ecosystem has thinned out. It is reasonable to keep a stable Gatsby site running while you plan a move.
Do we need to migrate right now?
Not always. If the site builds and rarely changes, keeping it going may be the cheapest option for a while. We will tell you which applies.
Which is better to move to, Astro or Next.js?
For content-led sites, often Astro. For sites with app-like features, often Next.js. The plan explains the choice for your site.
