Beauty & design

Your work looks good. Your website should too.

Salons, clinics and beauty brands sell on visuals and convenience. If the booking button stalls or the gallery takes ten seconds to load, people book somewhere else.

The problem

Most beauty businesses run on a booking platform plus a website that was set up once and left alone. The booking widget gets embedded, then a theme update breaks it on mobile. Treatment prices on the site drift away from what the booking system says. Nobody notices until a client turns up expecting the old price.

Image-heavy pages are the other common problem. Lookbooks and before-and-after galleries are uploaded straight from a phone at full size, and the site slows to a crawl. We fix the plumbing — booking embeds, image handling, product pages — without redesigning everything around it.

What we watch for

  • Booking widgets that work on desktop but fail inside mobile browsers or social media in-app browsers
  • Image weight on galleries, which is usually the main cause of a slow site
  • Prices and service names staying consistent between the website and the booking system
  • Busy periods before holidays and events, when changes should be scheduled around trade
  • Client photos and consent: we build the gallery, you confirm you have permission to publish

Beauty & design / Straight answers

Before you ask.

How much does it cost to fix a salon booking website in Australia?

Most salon and clinic website fixes cost between $250 and $1,200 AUD, priced as a fixed quote before work starts. A broken booking embed or a mobile layout fault usually sits at the lower end. Speeding up a heavy gallery is typically $500 to $2,500, depending on how many pages and images are involved. A landing page for a treatment launch starts from $900, and a small site of up to five pages is typically $2,500 to $4,000. If a job turns out bigger than quoted, we stop and re-quote before going further.

Why isn’t my Fresha or Timely booking button working on my website?

Usually something on the website side is blocking or breaking the embed, not the booking platform itself. Common causes are a theme or plugin update, a cookie banner or script loading in the wrong order, a button still pointing at an old booking link, or Instagram and Facebook in-app browsers handling pop-ups differently. We test on real phones, inside those apps and on desktop, find the cause and fix it. The same checks apply to Square Appointments, Mindbody and similar tools. Most of these fixes are completed in 1 to 5 business days.

Can you help move our salon website to a new booking platform?

Yes, we handle the website side of a booking platform switch. That means swapping embeds and buttons, updating booking links on every page, redirecting old booking URLs and checking that confirmations and tracking still work. Moving client records, appointment history and gift card balances between platforms is usually done by the platforms themselves, through their own import or migration support. We plan the website change around your quieter days so clients aren’t caught between two systems.

Why is my salon or beauty website so slow on mobile?

On most beauty websites the main cause is image weight: gallery, lookbook and before-and-after photos uploaded straight from a phone at full size. Several Instagram feed embeds, video backgrounds and leftover plugin scripts add to it. We resize and compress images, serve modern formats, lazy-load anything below the fold and remove scripts that aren’t earning their place, then measure before and after. Your photos should look the same to clients. Performance work typically costs $500 to $2,500 and takes 3 to 10 business days.

How do I get my salon to show up on Google Maps and local search?

Your Google Business Profile does most of the work in Google Maps, and your website backs it up. The profile needs the right category, hours, booking link and current photos, and the website should show the same business name, address and phone number. On the site we make sure service pages are readable text rather than locked inside a booking widget, add schema such as BeautySalon, HairSalon or NailSalon where it fits, and fix titles and page speed. Reviews and distance matter too, and nobody can promise rankings. Technical SEO audits start from $600.

Will ChatGPT or Google’s AI recommend my salon or clinic?

Nobody can guarantee that, but you can make your business easier for AI tools to understand and describe accurately. Assistants like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google’s AI answers draw on public sources: your website, Google Business Profile, reviews and directory listings. Plain-text service pages with treatments, prices, location and what each appointment involves help far more than text baked into images or hidden inside a booking widget. Consistent details everywhere and accurate schema help too. We can audit and fix the website side. We don’t sell AI ranking packages.

What rules apply to advertising cosmetic injectables on a clinic website in Australia?

Strict ones, and they’re worth checking with an adviser before you publish. Cosmetic injectables are prescription medicines, and the TGA restricts advertising them to the public, including on websites, page titles and metadata. AHPRA also has guidelines for practitioners who advertise cosmetic procedures. If your clinic collects health information, the Privacy Act may apply even if you’re a small business, and marketing emails and SMS fall under the Spam Act. We don’t give legal advice. Once your adviser has confirmed the wording, we update pages, metadata and the sitemap to match.

Can my salon sell gift vouchers online?

Usually, yes, through your booking platform, an online store, or both. Many booking platforms include voucher sales, and Shopify or WooCommerce can sell vouchers as products, though redemption then needs a workable process at the front desk. We check which option your existing tools support before quoting, then make purchase, the confirmation email and redemption work end to end. Gift card rules under Australian Consumer Law, such as minimum expiry periods, are something to confirm with your adviser.

Do I need a new salon website or can my current one be fixed?

Most beauty websites can be fixed rather than rebuilt. If the platform still works and you can edit it, fixing the booking embed, image weight, treatment menus and mobile layout usually costs far less than starting again. A rebuild starts to make sense when the site runs on an abandoned theme, nobody can log in to it, or every change breaks something else. We’ll tell you honestly which camp you’re in. Most fix lists land between $250 and $2,000, and a small new site of up to five pages is typically $2,500 to $4,000.

Who owns my salon website and booking account after you work on it?

You do. Your domain, hosting, website, booking platform and store accounts stay in your name, and our work happens inside them. We never ask for passwords. Once a job is agreed, you invite us as a user or staff account and remove that access when we’re done. We don’t run social media, photograph your work, write ongoing marketing content or sell retainers. If you need a full brand and photography project, that’s bigger than us and we’ll say so.
